USHCC Responds to 2016 State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following is a statement from the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce:

"During President Obama's final State of the Union, we heard the President tell the nation that America's diversity is its greatest strength. He implored the American people to come together to "fix our politics", noting that increased economic opportunity and security can only come about through rational, constructive debates. The USHCC applauds the President's commitment to addressing the political divisiveness not only in Washington, but throughout the country.

As the nation's largest Hispanic business association, the USHCC is proud to be bipartisan. Although we do not always agree with the Administration, we recognize that the number of Hispanic-owned businesses in America, 4.1 million, is at an all-time high.

Nevertheless, as we face the President's final year in office, the USHCC calls upon the Administration to move forward on solutions that promote growth for our nation's economy. Our association particularly advocates for increased access to capital for entrepreneurs; fostering international trade efforts to reinforce American business growth domestically; the promotion of an all-inclusive energy strategy to ensure small businesses aren't faced with the burden of high energy costs; and the expansion of workforce development programs that will better equip American workers with the skills needed for jobs in the 21st century.

The USHCC looks forward to continue working with the President, Congressional leaders, and presidential candidates from both sides of the aisle, to create a more prosperous business future for all Americans."
