Grupo Salinas Announces That The Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund Expands Latino Participation in Aspen Institute Programs

Purpose is to create awareness of the important contribution of Latinos to American society and build the Latino leadership pipeline and networks

MEXICO CITY, June 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Salinas (www.gruposalinas.com), a group of dynamic, fast-growing and technologically advanced companies, deeply committed to the modernization of the countries where they operate and founded by entrepreneur Ricardo Salinas (www.ricardosalinas.com), is pleased to announce Ricardo Salinas Scholars for the summer of 2016, within The Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund of the Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program.

The Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund awards scholarships twice a year. Candidates need to apply to the program of their interest and if it’s a good match the program will request the funds on behalf of the candidate.  A scholarship committee reviews all requests and makes selections. Questions regarding the Ricardo Salinas Scholarship Fund may be directed to Sarah Alvarez at sarah.alvarez@aspeninst.org.

“This scholarship seeks to increase Latino and Latin American participation in Aspen Institute programs, with the goal of creating awareness of the Latino community and its important contribution to American society,” said Ricardo Salinas. “There are a lot of creative ideas that Latinos can share and we should not be left out of the conversation.”

The Ricardo Salinas scholars will have the opportunity to attend policy and public programs such as the Ideas Festival, The Resnick Aspen Action Forum, Business & Society, Communications & Society, Spotlight Health, and the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs, among others.

“Ricardo’s generous contribution has enriched the experience for all program participants and the Aspen Institute,” said Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson. “The opportunity to include different voices in these conversations has been transformational.”

As a leading educational and policy studies organization, the Aspen Institute convenes a number of public events, policy roundtables, seminars, and other programs each year to foster leadership and encourage analysis, consensus building, and problem solving on a wide variety of issues. The Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program aims to create broad awareness of the growth and importance of the Latino community to the future success of the United States and manages the Ricardo Salinas Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Congratulations to all of the Ricardo Salinas Scholarship recipients for the summer period of 2016:
