King & Spalding's New York Office Adds Financial Restructuring Partner


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - June 20, 2016) - King & Spalding has recruited Jeffrey D. Pawlitz as a partner to its Financial Restructuring practice in New York. Pawlitz was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.

Pawlitz represents debtors, creditors, equity sponsors, and strategic investors in all aspects financial restructurings. He advises senior managers and boards of directors as to operating in Chapter 11 and provides advice regarding strategic restructuring alternatives, including with respect to prenegotiated Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court deals. In addition to company-side representations, Pawlitz also advises private equity and hedge fund clients in connection with strategic acquisitions or dispositions of distressed assets.

Pawlitz received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis.

He is the second partner to join the Financial Restructuring practice recently. King & Spalding announced in May that Mark Kaufman who specializes in financially distressed municipalities, joined the firm from Dentons.
