Tech Data Appoints Bob Kruger to Vice President, StreamOne

Industry Veteran to Lead Company’s Worldwide Suite of Cloud Marketplace Technologies


CLEARWATER, Fla., July 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced the appointment of Bob Kruger to vice president, StreamOne. In this role, Kruger will lead the scope, platform development, and support functions for Tech Data’s StreamOne suite of cloud marketplace and integration technologies, which power the company’s award-winning Cloud Solutions Store and provide partners with white label and integration capabilities to power their own cloud businesses. Kruger will be responsible for the inspiration, direction, and management of the consulting, technical, and agile development teams for StreamOne across the company’s worldwide operations. He will report to John Tonnison, the company’s executive vice president, Cloud Computing and chief information officer.

Kruger has nearly 40 years of experience in the computing industry, covering a diverse range of technologies including distributed computing, systems management, data management, archiving and data protection, networking, security, virtualization, and web content management. Most recently, he served as the chief executive officer of Apakau, Inc., an early-stage Silicon Valley startup whose services prevent distributed denial of service attacks that impact dynamic data from mobile apps and IoT devices. Previously, he served as senior vice president, Engineering at DNN Corp., the steward and commercial provider of the leading open source web content management system and web application platform for the Microsoft ecosystem, running on premise and in the cloud. Prior to DNN Corp., he served as senior vice president of Engineering at start-ups SmApper Technologies, Mimosa Systems, and Mendocino Software, all of which had teams operating in Silicon Valley and various countries throughout Europe and Asia. Kruger’s career also includes senior executive roles at NDCHealth, Citrix Systems, and BMC Software following a successful career of more than 10 years at Microsoft, where he last oversaw systems management products, including the creation of the Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) and Common Information Model (CIM) industry standards.

Kruger was a major contributor and technical reviewer for Bill Gates' second book, “Business @ the Speed of Thought,” and a contributing author to Aspatore Books’ “Inside the Minds: Making Critical Technology Decisions.” Kruger holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), with follow-on studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the AeA/Stanford University Executive Institute for management of high-technology companies.
