Avineon’s Neil Bourassa Wins the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association 2017 International Meritorious Service Award


BALTIMORE, June 22, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avineon’s Capture and Proposal Manager, Neil Bourassa, has been awarded the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) 2017 International Meritorious Service Award. The award was announced at the Baltimore Convention Center in advance of the Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium and presented to Mr. Bourassa at the June 21, 2017 meeting of the AFCEA Hampton Roads Chapter.

Mr. Bourassa has over 30 years professional experience as a maritime Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems,  Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems engineer. A former career Naval Officer, he has provided architecture, engineering, and acquisition support across a number of Department of Defense programs for government and industry. An active member of the AFCEA, Mr. Bourassa currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the AFCEA Hampton Roads Chapter in southeast Virginia.

Originally the Army Signal Association, AFCEA was established in 1946 to serve as professional forum for collaboration between government and industry in the fields of communications, information technology, and electronics for the defense, homeland security, and intelligence communities. AFCEA supports over 160 local chapters world-wide and over has more than 30,000 individual members and 1,600 corporate members.

The AFCEA International Meritorious Service Award recognizes mid-career professionals for meritorious contributions to AFCEA and the community as well as professional accomplishments. It requires specific initiatives taken to strengthen AFCEA at an operational level as well as exceptional career professional performance in the fields of communications, electronics, intelligence, and information systems. Winners are selected by the AFCEA International Awards Committee.
