Nextech Achieves 2015 Edition ONC-Health IT Certification

Leading end-to-end, specialty-specific dermatology, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery EMR receives 2015 Edition ONC-Health IT Certification

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nextech Systems, a leading provider of health care technology solutions for specialty physician practices, today announced achieving the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-Health IT) 2015 Edition Health IT Module certification for both IntelleChartPRO 7.0 and Nextech with NewCropRx 12.6 electronic medical record (EMR).

Nextech received certification through Drummond Group LLC, an Authorized Certification Body (ACB) that has been empowered to test software for compliance with the requirements of the federal government’s program. The stamp of approval designates that the software offers the functionality that enables eligible providers and hospitals to meet Meaningful Use requirements, qualifying these organizations to receive payments under the ongoing EMR adoption program.

“Achieving 2015 Edition certification ahead of time in our dedicated dermatology, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery markets is a testimony to our leading solution and focus on development to provide specialty physicians the best system to meet their practice needs, plus Meaningful Use (MU) Stage 3 and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) requirements,” said Nextech president and CEO Mike Scarbrough. “It also verifies that our customers can trust Nextech to have them fully prepared in advance for future demands and demonstrates our systems’ ability for greater interoperability and patient safety.”

MIPS replaces the EMR Meaningful Use program. Starting with 2018, all providers participating in MIPS will be required to use 2015 Edition certified health IT. A June 2017 proposal to delay the requirement because many EMR vendors would not be 2015 Edition certified in time has not been finalized, but a final ruling, expected soon, would still require providers to move to a 2015 Edition certified EMR in 2018, and those who are using a 2015 Edition will receive bonus points in their scoring methodology.

“Our readiness for the 2018 requirement shows our dedication to being proactive and giving our customers every benefit for participation in healthcare incentive programs,” said Scarbrough.

Nextech’s complete offering of cloud and mobile EMR, practice management, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement gives specialty providers a single solution for improving clinical and financial performance across the practice, in addition to elevating patient participation in their care.

The company’s status as a market leader is validated by the high number of users. Nextech’s IntelleChartPRO was recently named the #1 EMR Collaborator with the most registered practices through The American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS® Registry.

“We’re honored with being named a consistent market leader by The American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS® Registry,” said Scarbrough. “This, along with being the #1 ranked ophthalmology- specific EMR in MU attestations for 2016, validates the strength of our product.”
