LITTLETON, Mass., July 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TÜV Rheinland, a testing and certification leader at the forefront of interoperability, performance and safety in the globally connected world, today announced its Littleton, MA lab has been accepted to operate in the IECEE CB Scheme (IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) under the responsibility of National Certification Body (NCB) TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. Approval was obtained for the medical and electrical product safety lab in Littleton, MA, for the Product Categories and subsequent standards as listed on the IECEE website.

By operating the IECEE CB Scheme at its lab in Littleton, MA, TÜV Rheinland will enhance its testing capabilities in the Eastern United States. As a CBTL, TÜV Rheinland’s Littleton lab will provide customers with faster turnaround time for medical and electrical products by reducing international trade barriers and enabling global market access.

“We are excited about this very important step in cutting down project times by eliminating sample shipments to other labs across the country,” said Uwe Meyer, Business Field Manager, Medical Testing. “Obtaining approval at our Littleton lab complements our CBTL in Newtown, CT, which increases our overall testing capacity and solidifies TUV Rheinland of North America as a relevant test house for medical device testing on the East Coast. Our customers require proximity to their testing labs, and this announcement demonstrates our responsiveness to their needs as well as our commitment to building long-term relationships with our customers that support sustainable growth for the future.”

IECEE, the IEC System for Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components, is a multilateral certification system based on IEC International Standards. The IECEE Schemes address the safety, quality, efficiency and overall performance of components, devices and equipment for homes, offices, workshops, health facilities among others. A CB-Test Report, if attached to a CB-Certificate, can become a passport for a product. Test results may be used to obtain certification or approval at national levels around the world, avoiding in-country retesting.
