SAN DIEGO, Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Award-winning domestic violence expert, Jessica Yaffa brings unique Relationship Violence Assessment and Response Specialist (RVARS) certification to San Diego professionals.
The 16-hour RVARS program offers training and certification in proactively and effectively assessing and responding to relationship violence issues. Education is based around the scope of various professional first response and therapeutic situations.
Those working in the fields of psychology, therapy, social work, law enforcement, emergency, medical, treatment, education, and attorneys are encouraged to attend. The two-day workshop is hosted at the Marina Village Conference Center in San Diego on September 14 and 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The course was developed by a local San Diego domestic violence survivor and published expert on the subject.
“Relationship violence affects 20 people every minute and professionals need to be equipped to react properly,” said Jessica Yaffa, CEO, Speaker & Trainer at Jessica Yaffa, LLC. “The training will arm San Diego professionals with the skills and knowledge to assess for and respond to relationship violence."
Training will include trauma-informed language and assessment techniques to respond to relationship abuse situations. It also teaches cultural sensitivity, safety planning, mandated reporting requirements, and available victim resources. Mental health professionals will earn 12 CEUs.
