ExcelinEd’s Opportunity Learning Hub Provides Quick, Efficient Way to Learn About Educational Options

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Oct. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The world of education is expanding, and so is interest in the increasing opportunities for families and students.

Enter the Opportunity Learning Hub – an exciting effort launched today by ExcelinEd - with  quick, efficient and instructive videos for anyone interested in policies that expand educational opportunity.

The Opportunity Learning Hub draws its inspiration from Khan Academy, which produces free lessons in math, history, science and dozens of other subjects, reaching more than 12 million video viewers per month.

The Opportunity Learning Hub will let anyone watch a brief 3-minute video on a topic of interest or watch hours of content to become a more proficient advocate for education choice. Current videos include explorations of choice programs and policies like Education Scholarship Accounts, Tax-Credit Scholarships, and Public Charter Schools.

Here are a few examples of topics we will also address in the Opportunity Learning Hub:

  • What is a Blaine Amendment?
  • What impact do choice programs have on students who remain in public schools?
  • How are charter schools held accountable?
  • What’s the difference between an ESA, tax-credit scholarship and voucher?

The first set of videos are now available with plans to post dozens more each year. This project embraces open-source learning: there are no advertisements, paywalls, subscriptions or email addresses/logins necessary. Anyone can embed the videos in blogs, use them to answer questions and share them freely.

You can also find valuable in-depth information from ExcelinEd across our policy briefs, blogs, toolkits and annual reports, as well as in panel presentations and discussions with policy experts throughout the year.

The Opportunity Learning Hub is open 24 hours a day. We welcome any ideas and questions that can be addressed in future videos. Send ideas to info@excelined.org or @ExcelinEd on Twitter.
