Lubrizol to Present at the 14th ICIS Pan American
Base Oils & Lubricants Conference
CLEVELAND, November 19, 2018 - The Lubrizol Corporation announces that it will present at the 14th ICIS Pan American Base Oils & Lubricants Conference in Jersey City November 28-30, 2018. Martin Birze, regional business manager, passenger car motor oils for the Americas, will present Enabling Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) Technology: Beyond API SN PLUS & ILSAC GF-6 on Tuesday, November 28 at 1:30 p.m. EST. This presentation will focus on the growth rate of TGDI engines across the Americas and the need to address the lubrication challenges associated with this technology, namely low speed pre-ignition (LSPI). The automotive industry's acknowledgment of the damaging effects of LSPI brought about the recent licensing of new API SN PLUS oils, specifically designed to mitigate this harmful, abnormal combustion event in TGDI engines. However, further research in the field has shown differences in the LSPI mitigating performance of different additive formulations throughout the oil drain interval. The presentation will address how Lubrizol has gone beyond the standard to evaluate LSPI propensity not just at fresh oil, but as the oil ages, and will illustrate that not all LSPI solutions are created equally.
