May 18 Walk4Hearing to Raise Awareness, Funds for Those with Hearing Loss

SALT LAKE CITY, May 01, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) invites the community to join the Salt Lake City Walk4Hearing, one of 20 Walks nationwide, on Sat., May 18, at Thanksgiving Point’s Electric Park, located in Lehi, Utah. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with the Walk starting at noon. Participants will enjoy entertainment, children’s activities, food trucks, a dunk tank and receive resources for hearing loss, including a free hearing screening. Funds raised will be used for programs and services, both locally and nationally, for those affected by hearing loss.

Currently, 48 million Americans report some degree of hearing loss. The month of May is designated as Better Hearing and Speech Month, which provides a time for renewed focus on hearing health, hearing loss prevention and awareness about hearing loss and its impact.

CaptionCall, the leading provider of captioned telephone service, is proud to be the Capital Sponsor of the Walk4Hearing. Notes Bruce Peterson, CaptionCall vice president of government and community relations and the honorary Walk4Hearing chair: “Thousands of people – young and old – participate in the Walks to bring awareness to hearing health and to support HLAA’s mission to help us all live better with hearing loss.”

Barbara Kelley, executive director of HLAA, says, “The Walks afford people with hearing loss the opportunity to form new friendships and share experiences. The energy is invigorating!”
