Mexico City, Aug. 03, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aeromexico resumed service this Sunday to Quito from Mexico City, offering three weekly flights. To celebrate the return of the airline to Ecuador, Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport performed the traditional water salute to the aircraft.
Quito is the most visited place in Ecuador and has numerous churches that hold treasures of culture and history from the colonial era. Its Historic Center is the best preserved in the world and the country's gastronomy is widely varied, in addition, to be the largest producer of fine aroma cocoa. It also offers an important variety of extreme sports and outdoor activities at the Choco Andino, a natural paradise, declared in 2018 as the seventh Biosphere Reserve in the world by UNESCO.
During the contingency, Aeromexico transported to this destination more than 27 tons of essential medical supplies to fight against the pandemic. One of the flights was operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which for the first time flew to Quito.

Meanwhile, Carla Cardenas, General Manager of Quito Tourism, added: “The reopening of flights and air operations in Quito, lead the way for recovery and the opportunity to provide the best experience to the traveler while visiting the Center of the World, with biosafety protocols that will allow feeling confidence and security from their arrival until the return to their country of origin”.

Aeromexico reaffirms its commitment to increase operations, resume destinations, and increase frequencies gradually and safely. The airline estimates to operate more than 7,400 flights during August, thus increasing its operation by 20% compared to the previous month.
