Nokia introduces a WAP phone for mobile professionals

"The Nokia 6210 sets a new reference in the category of business phones, complete with advanced features and a design that enables efficient and reliable operation. It is the result of a balanced and elegant evolution of the Nokia 6100 series, enabling an easy migration path for our customers to the latest technology in mobile telephony. The unique benefits of the Nokia 6210 ensure that it will be highly appealing to today's mobile professionals who have a constant need to access time-critical information," said Søren Jenry Petersen, Vice President, Cellular Mobile Telephones, Nokia Mobile Phones.

The Nokia 6210 is perfect for users who use the mobile phone as their most vital business tool. The size of the phone and the big display enable easy operation, yet the product is only 18 mm thick with the standard slim battery, and it weighs only 114 grams. The length and the width of the Nokia 6210 are the same as in the other Nokia 6100 series phones, which many users have considered to be the optimum size ratio for a mobile phone. This also enables the use of most of the Nokia 6100 series accessories, including the hands-free car kit, batteries, chargers and desktop stands with the Nokia 6210. The Nokia 6210 has an internal antenna, allowing for a smoother design of the phone without compromising performance.

The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) enables compliant Internet content to be retrieved from and delivered to a mobile phone. The Nokia 6210 is a perfect tool for the business user who needs reliable and convenient access to vital information while on the move. In addition to public WAP services, the Nokia 6210 can easily be integrated in an enterprise's information management infrastructure by using the Nokia WAP Server 1.0, enabling access to critical company information, such as databases, Intranet and email. The Nokia 6210 and the compatible Nokia PC Suite program have a number of features to assist a company to configure a large number of phones with the company-specific WAP access points, dictionaries and other information. This will streamline information management processes and hence bring unique productivity benefits for corporate users.

High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD) increases the data speed up to 43.2 kbps in those networks that support it. This will make the Nokia 6210 a perfect tool for retrieving email and having Internet access with a compatible laptop computer. The Nokia 6210 connects to a laptop either via infrared or a cable. The Nokia 6210 has a large dynamic memory for storing contact information, messages and calendar notes. Calendar and other time-management features have also been further developed to meet the demanding needs of professional users. With its standard slim battery, the Nokia 6210 has a talktime of 2.5 - 4.5 hours and a stand-by time of 55 - 260 hours, depending on, for example, the network conditions and the SIM card.
