Aspo made a decision at the end of last year to incorporate the
marine navigation system operations of Aspo Systems Oy. The new
company is to be named Navintra Ltd and its operations are to be
launched officially today. Navintra Ltd is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Aspo Plc.
As has been announced earlier, Mr. Mikko Heikkinen has been
appointed President of the new company. Navintra Ltd was
registered on February 28, 2000 under registration number 296,844.
The company is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.
In February the company’s electronic ECDIS marine sea chart
system, which gradually will make traditional paper charts used
for official purposes obsolete, was granted type approval by the
German organization, Bundesamt fuer Seeschiffahrt und
Hydrographie. The system was developed in cooperation with the
Japanese Furuno Corporation, which is one of the leading equipment
manufacturers in its sector in the world, and has a comprehensive
global distribution network.
The net sales of the freshly incorporated company for 1999
totalled approximately EUR 4.8 million and the company employed
25 people.
