ORKLA MEDIA TO COOPERATE ON ADVERTISING IN POLAND

Orkla Media’s newspaper company in Poland, Orkla Press, has entered into a joint venture agreement concerning advertising cooperation and an agreement concerning the acquisition of 20% of the shares a 40% financial interest in the advertising sales company Media TAK in Warsaw. The remaining shares in the company are owned by the German-owned newspaper group Polskapresse (Verlagsgruppe Passau). Orkla Press and Polskapresse will be strategic partners in the new company, which will comprise the parties’ combined total of 20 regional newspapers. Most of the newspapers hold No. 1 positions on their respective markets. The total daily circulation is approximately 1.1-1.2 million, equivalent to a national market share of about 40%. The company will therefore be the clear leader in sales of national advertisements for Polish regional newspapers.

Strong growth is anticipated on the Polish newspaper market in the years ahead. With its investment in Media TAK, Orkla Press has laid the foundations for being able to take its share of this growth.
