The Board of Directors of Jaakko Pöyry Group Oyj has confirmed the following business group management appointments in its meeting on July 31, 2000:
Mr. Risto Laukkanen, professor, Dr. Tech., has been appointed President of the Infrastructure & Environment business group, effective September 1, 2000. Mr. Johann Schmieder, M.Sc. (Mech. Eng.) has been nominated his deputy and Executive Vice President of the business group. The business group's current President, Mr. Teuvo Salminen, M. Sc. (Econ.) will continue as Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO in Jaakko Pöyry Group Oyj. Mr.Laukkanen and Mr. Schmieder will be responsible for continuing the internationalization process of the business group and for enhancing the business group's growth within the sectors of transport, water & environment, telecommunications, and commercial and industrial buildings.
Mr. Laukkanen is also a member of the Group's Executive Committee and in charge of the Group’s R&D activities. Mr. Teuvo Salminen is in charge of development and commercialization of the Group's new businesses, further development of the Group structure and the internal activities of the Group's parent company.
Mr. Stefan Antell has been appointed Director responsible for key customer relationships of the Forest Industry business group as of August 1, 2000. Mr. Erkki Pehu-Lehtonen will temporarily take over as Director of the Forest Industry business group and President of Jaakko Pöyry Oy in addition to his main duties as President and CEO of Jaakko Pöyry Group Oyj.
