Nokia to deliver InSite Base Station solution to Pannon in Hungary

Nokia is to supply Hungarian GSM operator Pannon with the revolutionary Nokia InSite Base Station solution, providing optimized radio access for indoor hot spots.

The agreement follows the successful Pannon trial of Nokia InSite – the world's smallest GSM base station optimized for indoor applications enabling smooth growth of dedicated coverage to ensure a high quality network.

Nokia InSite Base Stations have now been delivered to close to 30 operators around the world with commercial deployment expected to commence during the third quarter of this year.

"Pannon is constantly striving to further enhance its services to customers and a dedicated indoor network would increase our effectiveness by ensuring personnel are always reachable," said Péter Antal, Radio Network Planning Office Manager of Pannon, "After trialling the Nokia InSite solution we found it to be both compact and aesthetically unobtrusive as well as excelling in terms of providing indoor coverage."

"The Nokia InSite Base Station solution helps operators to deliver dedicated coverage, capacity and quality in a cost-effective way in offices and we are pleased to enable Pannon to make the mobile phone the preferred phone in the office," said Kari Lahtinen, Managing Director of Nokia Networks in Hungary.

The Nokia InSite Base Station can be installed virtually anywhere, speeding up the rollout and significantly cutting deployment costs: it can be deployed in about one-tenth of the conventional time due to its "plug and play" wall mounted installation, small size and integrated design. Nokia InSite Base Station can also be combined with any of the Nokia GSM office solutions.

Nokia InSite Base Station is easy to install and supports automated network planning functionality, allowing the installation to be carried out by one engineer on a single site visit. In addition Nokia InSite base Stations will support GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and is helping pave the way to the Mobile Information Society indoors.
