Nextra enters neighboring Nordic countries

Nextra continues on its path of European expansion with launches in Sweden, Denmark and Finland; with these most recent additions, the company is now present in 11 countries. Nextra AB, headquartered in Stockholm, currently has 50 employees, but plans to add between 30 and 50 before year-end. The Swedish operations will further serve as a base for the development of Nextra in Finland and Denmark, where the company has now established local sales offices.

Nextra AB’s managing director Olle Waktel, who previously led Telia’s Internet operations, has great ambitions for Nextra in Sweden. His goal is to see that the company assumes a key role in the Swedish market. “We are focusing strongly on small to medium-sized businesses, where we perceive a great potential for Nextra’s services,” says Waktel.

Mirea purchase
Nextra’s strategy in Sweden is to offer software that is stored centrally within Nextra’s network, to small and medium sized enterprises. The purchase of Mirea, a young but rapidly growing deliverer of ASP services, will contribute strongly to the realization of this goal. The idea is to offer companies secure applications with high availability at low, predictable fixed costs.
“Through the purchase of Mirea, we can offer business applications which support functions such as CRM and HR, on top of the existing Nextra services,” emphasizes Waktel.

Mirea’s managing director, Peter Andersén, sees the deal with Nextra as an opportunity for a greater European rollout of the company’s offerings. “Now we have the necessary resources to develop next generation ASP products. And through Nextra, we’ll be able to distribute them to an even larger market outside of Sweden,” adds Andersén.
