TIBCO Software to enable mobile access to personalized services by integrating Nokia’s WAP technology

TIBCO Software Inc., a leading provider of real-time infrastructure software for e-business, today announced it is deploying Nokia’s WAP technology in order to lay the foundation for third generation (3G) networks, enabling mobile access to personalized services and information. The solution, TIBCO MobileConnect(TM) will provide a comprehensive wireless infrastructure for information delivery to wireless devices today, and a path to 3G network support in the future.

Under terms of the agreement, TIBCO will bundle the Nokia WAP Server with its TIBCO ActivePortal(TM) product suite to create TIBCO MobileConnect, a world-class infrastructure for the wireless world. TIBCO MobileConnect builds on TIBCO’s expertise in e-business integration of both internal enterprise data and external content. For telecommunications service providers, easy integration with Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Billing Support Systems (BSS) will ensure rapid deployment of high-value, wireless data services to their subscribers. For enterprises in general, TIBCO MobileConnect will enable them to exchange business content with partners and customers via wireless devices and enable mobile commerce (m-commerce) transactions.

“The future of mobile computing is moving to 3G networks, where people will be able to access a broad range of digital information—including music, photos, video and television—while on the move,” said Vivek Ranadivé, chairman and CEO for TIBCO Software. “The TIBCO MobileConnect solution enables mobile providers to support WAP devices today, and rapidly move to 3G networks to provide new mobile multimedia services and applications.”

“Nokia’s WAP-enabling software solutions provide a ready-to-go platform and tools for building innovative services for businesses,” said Greg Shortell, vice president of Global Sales, Nokia Internet Communications. “By combining real-time e-business infrastructure with Nokia’s WAP technology, TIBCO will be enabling users to exchange real-time, personalized business content, and conduct e-business transactions independent of time and place. We are looking forward to working with TIBCO and their customers to rapidly deploy state-of-the-art mobile Internet solutions.”
