Nokia delivers GPRS core solution to PTK Centertel for the Idea GSM network in Poland


Nokia has delivered GPRS core network infrastructure to PTK Centertel Sp. z.o.o., a dual band GSM 900/1800 operator in Poland. The agreement for the Idea mobile network also includes related implementation services and technical support.

"PTK Centertel has been the first mobile operator to introduce GPRS services in Poland, based on Nokia's GPRS equipment. The Nokia GPRS solution includes the industry's strongest and most efficient core GPRS system and Connecting@Care support services including applications consultancy and systems integration expertise to integrate the GPRS core network into the existing service delivery and billing environment. Since August 1999, Nokia has delivered and implemented well over 50 GPRS core networks to leading operators in Europe, USA, Asia and China, and now has the largest installed base of any supplier.

PTK Centertel is an operator of a GSM 900/1800 network launched on 1 March 2000 and the NMT 450 network. The Idea network has more than 1.3 million subscribers and the population coverage of 90%. Idea has signed roaming agreements with 150 operators in 80 countries. Idea subscribers have a wide range of services at their disposal, including free of charge voice mail
