Legendary Quarterback Theismann Earns Ohio Man $60,000 Payday at Nokia Sugar Bowl 2001

WHO
Thirty-four-year-old Timothy Miller, an account manager from Lebanon, Ohio and the Nokia SugarBowl 2001 Million Dollar throw contestant, will not having to worry about how to pay this year's holiday bills, as he is now $60,000 richer thanks to the help of a legendary quarterback.

WHAT
During halftime at the Nokia Sugar Bowl 2001, Miller played understudy to Joe Theismann, former NFL Washington Redskins quarterback. Theismann took the field first, completing 6 passes in his allotted 45 seconds—each worth $10,000. Then back-up quarterback Miller stepped on to the field and narrowly missed putting his pass through the same target. Had Miller completed his single pass, he would have added a “0” to Theismann’s total – and brought the total winnings to $600,000.

While Miller kept in mind Theismann's coaching, weeks of practice in the frigid Ohio winter, and the advice of Bob Moderhak, Nokia Sugar Bowl 2000 halftime $500,000 winner, to aim high, Miller was just off on his once-in-a-lifetime pass at the target on the larger-than-life nine foot high Nokia 8200 Series phone model.

Softening the blow of his missed pass, Nokia is donating $10,000 in the name of Tim Miller to Big Brothers and Sisters of Warren and Clinton Counties. Miller selected this Lebanon, Ohio based United Way affiliated agency to be his hometown charity partner for the Nokia Million Dollar Pass.
