Nokia will continue its successful cooperation with ONE into 3G


ONE has chosen Nokia as a supplier of a 3G system for the introduction of new mobile Internet services in Austria. This co-operation enables ONE to combine the power of mobility and the Internet and build on their existing business to rapidly create new services with a cost efficient 3G network.

Nokia has been supplier for ONE's GSM network and has also delivered GPRS system for the creation of high-speed packet data services in ONE's mobile network.

Nokia's 3G infrastructure is based on open standards, platforms and interfaces, critical for a smooth evolution to commercial 3G services in a multi-vendor network. It includes integrated end-to-end solutions covering charging, security, network management and service control applications.

Nokia already offers a full range of support services and solutions to help network providers differentiate in today's fast-changing business environment and rapidly build out 3G networks.

In October 1998, the communications company ONE launched Austria's only nation-wide GSM-1800 mobile telephony network. By the end of 2000 ONE had 1,400 employees and 1,3 million customers (mobile phone, fixed net, Internet). In 2000 annual turnover made ATS 5,8 billion. ONE has a population coverage of 97%. Besides mobile telephony, ONE also offers the Internet product i-ONE, the fixed-line solution ONE 1069, and - together with Priority Telecom - the convergence product Take Two. ONE is the only mobile operator offering GPRS and HSCSD in Austria.ONE has already invested ATS 18 billion in Austria, in the year 2001 another 4 billion are planned.
