Northrop Grumman Receives GSA Task Order to Assist Navy Families

McLEAN, Va., May 8, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Litton PRC, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), has won the U.S. Navy Facilities Engineering Command Public Works Field Support Office (NAVFAC) task order under the General Services Administration's ANSWER contract. This award has a one-year base with seven option years. Initial tasking is for $3.9 million, with a total potential value of $33 million.

Litton PRC has supported NAVFAC for more than 11 years, including the last five as the prime contractor. Among its achievements on the program, Litton PRC developed the Electronic Family Housing (eFH) software that the Navy uses to manage its worldwide inventory of military family housing units. The system was one of only two applications selected by NAVFAC for Task Force Web, a pilot program initiated by the vice chief of naval operations to demonstrate Web technology within the Navy.

In this phase of the project, the Litton PRC team will install eFH at 11 overseas locations. In addition, Litton PRC will update the application for the Web with new technology and migrate it to a Web-based enterprise application. Additional tasks on the new contract include fielding, training and help desk support for the Navy's 82 family housing offices worldwide, which manage 60,000 Navy family relocations every year and more than 100,000 housing units. San Diego has the largest housing inventory, with 10,000 on-base quarters and an equal number of referral properties.

"America's military is the backbone of our nation's security, and we are proud to be chosen to create a system that improves our military families' quality of life," said Barry Rhine, president of Litton PRC's Government Solutions Division.

The eFH system tracks base housing units by address, age, square footage, number of bedrooms and maintenance calls, and also manages referral properties by location, size and amenities. The system improves in-processing steps and will soon recognize smart cards to simplify forms administration.

Litton PRC staff will support the program from locations in La Mesa, Calif., and McLean, Va. The ANSWER contract from GSA provides flexible, responsive, easy-to-use and cost-effective IT services for federal agencies.
