Nokia in agreement with Skanova of Sweden to deliver broadband technology for fast Internet services

Nokia has signed an agreement with Skanova, a wholesale network provider within the Telia Group of companies. Skanova operates Sweden's largest network of telecom-, Internet- and broadband services and offers its customers full network access, services and support.

Under the two-year agreement, Nokia will deliver its current proven D50 DSLAM platform for fast Internet services as well as its next-generation multiservice access node. Together the two platforms provide a future proof solution allowing Skanova to cost-efficiently evolve its network to provide rich media services such as voice, video and data to service providers in Sweden. The deal also includes the Nokia SMS 1800 subscriber management systems for high concentration of data traffic from multiple DSLAMs and high-end home gateway products.

"Nokia has proven it has the solutions and technology to supply us with robust, reliable technology for our network in order to deliver strong revenue streams at a cost-efficient level. It's an advantage for us to be working with Nokia in developing the broadband market in Sweden," says Ove Alm, Technical Director of Skanova.

"We are very pleased to extend our collaboration with Skanova as one of the most forward-thinking and innovative network providers. A proven track record and the willingness to take carriers from plain fast Internet to the multimedia, multiservice broadband market are cornerstones of Nokia's broadband offering," says Mark Slater, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Nokia Broadband Systems.
