HERNDON, Va., Oct. 8, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a systems security task order from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The five-year program includes one base year and four one-year options and has a potential value of more than $4 million to the company's Information Technology (IT) sector.
Northrop Grumman will provide services and products to support the information security activities of the Joint Automated Booking System (JABS) program management office with DOJ's Justice Management Division. The company will assist in developing system security policies, technical security requirements, security requirement traceability matrices, system security plans, risk assessments, contingency plans, security guides, system test and evaluation plans, and the final security evaluation reports.
JABS is a major information-sharing initiative among the Justice Department's five law enforcement components: Bureau of Prisons, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immigration & Naturalization Service and the United States Marshals Service. JABS enables the automation of booking procedures by participating law enforcement organizations and provides the ability to electronically transmit fingerprint and biometric data to the FBI's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
Through its offender data repository, JABS eliminates repetitive booking of offenders, standardizes federal booking data elements, enables cross-agency sharing of booking information, enhances cooperation between law enforcement agencies, and reduces the threat to law enforcement officials and the public by facilitating the rapid and positive identification of offenders.
"Northrop Grumman brings significant experience to this task order, including authoring certification and accreditation policy, managing the certification process and completing certification products all resulting in successful system accreditation," said Anthony Cascio, Northrop Grumman IT program manager. "As an example, Northrop Grumman was a primary author of the Department of Defense Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process."
