Nokia Connects You to Mobile Entertainment in a Unique "Gen M Underground Party"

Singapore --- Nokia hosted the first ever underground midnight party on Singapore's MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) train for trendsetting youths who enjoy mobility, music, messaging and mobile gaming. Themed as the "Gen M Underground Party" ("Gen M" stands for Generation Mobile), the event offered a unique total entertainment experience with Nokia where guests were first treated to an exciting party on board the train and later to a mystery location where the latest range of Nokia mobile phones and mobile entertainment services were being showcased.

More than 400 guests or "Gen Mers" packed the party venue, comprising key trade, media and some 200 Nokia mobile phone customers who had pre-registered for the event on the Nokia Singapore website.

"We saw the underground party concept as an excellent way to showcase Nokia's mobile entertainment services as well as to communicate our messages on the exciting world of messaging, music and mobile gaming through our latest range of phones which support all these cool and innovative features that appeal to the youth generation in particular. We call them "Generation Mobile". They are early adopters who are always the first to try new devices and gadgets. Messaging and accessing mobile services on the move have become part of their way of life. We are very delighted indeed to have quite a large number of them to be part of this underground party tonight," said Bengt-Ake Gyllenberg, Vice President & General Manager, Nokia Mobile Phones, South East Asia Pacific.

Highlights of the party included the main interaction booths showcasing Nokia's recently launched entertainment offering, the Nokia 5510, with a totally new design format and feature-rich in music and mobile gaming. The guests at the party were also one of the first to check out the Club Nokia Singapore website which was launched earlier today at Suntec City. All "Gen Mers" who registered as Club Nokia members during the party were given complimentary credit vouchers.

Product demonstrations on interesting WAP over GPRS services and games using Nokia's fashion phone with GPRS (Nokia 8310) were also a key attraction. The Nokia 8310 was commercially released last month. Nokia also offered free downloads of ringing tones, picture messages, operator logos, animated screensavers and gamepacks from its Nokia World stations at the midnight party. Lots of prizes, including mobile phones, were given away.

The "Gen M" theme was carried through from the décor of the "Gen M Midnight Express" train, the interaction booths at the party right down to the attire of the "Gen Mers". Prior to being ushered into the party proper, guests were invited to gear up for the night by having their attire transformed by "Gen M" characters using funky body stamps, temporary dyes for the hair and matching accessories.

Besides being emcees for the night, Perfect 10 deejays Jaime Yeo and Daniel Ong provided an entertaining live broadcast of the night's event on the Perfect 10 radio station, Singapore's hottest radio station for hip and cool music. Other highlights included a special performance by a young, up and coming local band "Urban Xchange" who recorded the Coke jingle "Life Tastes Good" and a bonus track on the original soundtrack of the movie blockbuster Rush Hour 2. They have also recently launched their debut album "How Did We Get Here".
