Wolters Kluwer names Harry Sterk as new CEO for its Education cluster


'Harry Sterk, with a strong senior management experience in the information industry will contribute to our strategy to extend our product lines beyond books to many kinds of electronic teaching tools. The challenges presented by electronic teaching tools open many new opportunities for growth for the coming years', said Mr. Hugh Yarrington, member of the Executive Board and responsible for the Education cluster.
 
Since 1997, Mr. Sterk was employed with EMAP Communications, an activity of EMAP plc., a UK quoted Media Group, with activities in business media services. During his latest assignment, Mr. Sterk's responsibilities were, among others, information projects/internet, books and trade magazines, tradeshows.
 
As CEO of the cluster, Mr. Sterk will build on the strategy of the cluster, with a focus on streamlining the operating companies and expanding e-learning activities. The educational publishing has been great business for Wolters Kluwer for many years and will continue to be. Hugh Yarrington: "Books have been essential tools for centuries and we will always produce great educational books. Now, we have an opportunity to build electronic teaching tools for our education markets and to think about using them to serve a broader educational market, including businesses and corporations."
