WHO:
Forty-three year-old Gloversville, New York resident Gregory Jepsen, owner of an employment counseling company and the Nokia Sugar Bowl 2002 Million Dollar Challenge contestant, will not have to worry about how to pay this year's holiday bills, as he is now $100,000 richer thanks to the help of a legendary quarterback.
WHAT:
During halftime at the Nokia Sugar Bowl 2002, Jepsen played understudy to Joe Theismann, former NFL quarterback. Theismann took the field first, completing 9 passes in his allotted 45 seconds-8 worth $10,000, and 1 special "money ball" worth $20,000. Then back-up quarterback Jepsen stepped on to the field and narrowly missed putting his pass through the same target. Had Jepsen completed his single pass, he would have added a "0" to Theismann's total - and brought the total winnings to $1,000,000.
While Jepsen kept in mind Theismann's coaching, weeks of practice in Gloversville, and the advice of Theismann to aim high, Jepsen was just off on his once-in-a-lifetime pass at the target on the larger-than-life nine foot high Nokia 8200 Series phone model.
