Jaakko Pöyry Group acquires German transportation consulting business


BPI-Consult GmbH, which is a part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group, has acquired the transportation consulting business of Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH in Germany. The acquired business units, situated in Aachen, Hamburg and Munich, employ 55 people and their net sales amount to about EUR 3.4 million.

With its 14 regional offices, BPI-Consult GmbH is a major player in the transportation sector in Germany. Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH is one of the market leaders in the German transportation consulting business. The acquired business units focus strongly on public transportation, telematics and road tunnel safety.

The combination of BPI-Consult's project know-how and Heusch/Boesefeldt's consulting expertise will strongly improve the Infrastructure & Environment business group's position in the German transportation consulting market. The acquisition of Heusch/Boesefeldt's consulting units strengthens the business group's expertise and creates new opportunities for integrated transportation planning projects, a strongly growing market both in Western Europe and globally.

The Infrastructure & Environment business group, operating under the brand name Jaakko Pöyry Infra, had net sales of EUR 108 million in 2001. Jaakko Pöyry Infra has offices in 12 countries and employs some 1200 experts worldwide.
