U.S. Air Force Selects Northrop Grumman-Led Team to Provide Professional Support Services

HERNDON, Va., March 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- A team led by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been selected by the U.S. Air Force for the Contracted Advisory and Assistance Services II (CAAS II) program. The team will compete for task orders under the five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, which has a total combined value of $300 million to the six teams that will compete for awards.

Through the CAAS II program, the Northrop Grumman team will support the warfighter by providing a wide range of services including management and professional services; studies, analyses and evaluations; and engineering and technical services for the Air Combat Command (ACC), Langley Air Force Base, Va., and numerous other ACC bases.

"This contract solidifies our position as a first-tier provider to the Air Force warfighter and will accelerate our growth with the Air Combat Command," said Jim Frey, president of TASC, the Northrop Grumman Information Technology business unit that will lead the company's CAAS II team.

The ACC organizes, trains, equips and maintains combat-ready forces for rapid deployment and employment while ensuring strategic air defenses are ready for peacetime air sovereignty and wartime air defense. The command operates fighter, bomber, reconnaissance, battle management and rescue aircraft, as well as command, control, communications and intelligence systems.

"We will be able to apply several of our company's strongest capabilities to CAAS II including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; scientific and engineering technical assistance; and systems engineering and integration," said Terry Pomeroy, CAAS II program manager, TASC.

In addition to TASC, Northrop Grumman Information Technology's Defense Enterprise Solutions unit is also a member of the CAAS II team. Other team members include Raytheon Company, Lexington, Mass.; Veridian, Arlington, Va.; Booz Allen Hamilton, McLean, Va.; Symvionics, Inc., Pasadena, Calif.; L-3 Communications Analytics Corp., Vienna, Va.; Whitney, Bradley & Brown, Inc., Vienna, Va.; Earth Tech, Long Beach, Calif.; Cubic Applications, Inc., Lacey, Wash.; SRS Technologies, Newport Beach, Calif.; VII Inc., Vienna, Va.; and VSE Corporation, Alexandria, Va.

Work on the CAAS II program will be performed at Langley Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field, Fla., and other ACC locations.
