Harsco's Gas and Fluid Control Group Signs Agreement to Supply Cryogenic and Compressed Gas Equipment

$8 Million Pact with AGA and Holox Names Harsco as Primary Supplier

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 16, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Harsco Gas and Fluid Control Group has been named the primary supplier for a broad range of gas containment and control products under a new agreement with two North American gas producers and distributors. The agreement with AGA Gas, Inc. and Holox Ltd., both members of the worldwide Linde Gas Group, is valued at approximately $8 million this year.

The agreement continues Harsco's long-term relationship with Holox and returns AGA as a major customer. Ohio-based AGA and Georgia-based Holox manufacture and distribute industrial, medical and specialty gases and hardware to manufacturing plants, laboratories, hospitals and other customers throughout the Americas. Harsco will supply a comprehensive range of cryogenic bulk storage units, electronic-grade gas containers, high pressure compressed gas cylinders and acetylene cylinders, as well as its line of high pressure, acetylene and specialty valves.

According to Brian Haley, President of Holox, the agreement combines the purchasing power of AGA and Holox to help situate the Linde Gas Group in the best possible position to take advantage of North American market recovery opportunities. "We must focus our capital investments in areas that provide superior value and predictable return on equipment costs. We believe that our choice of Harsco's Gas and Fluid Control Group as our primary gas containment and control equipment provider will accomplish that goal," he said.

Joe D'Agostino, Vice President Operations and Regional Manager Supply for AGA Gas, Inc., added, "We are both comfortable and confident that this purchasing relationship with Harsco will add value to the distribution of our products in the markets we serve."

The Harsco Gas and Fluid Control Group manufactures the broadest range of gas and fluid control equipment in the world, including Taylor-Wharton cryogenic containers, high pressure cylinders and acetylene cylinders; American Welding & Tank propane tanks; Structural Composites Industries (SCI) composite pressure vessels and structures; Sherwood valves for industrial, commercial and recreational use, including Superior Refrigeration Products; Air-X-Changers air-cooled heat exchangers; and Capitol Manufacturing fluid fittings. Operating from 30 facilities in eight countries on four continents, the Group markets its products in more than 80 countries worldwide.
