Svenska Kraftnat Sign Agreement with TietoEnator

ESPOO, Finland, May 21, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- TietoEnator and Svenska Kraftnat have signed a three-year agreement that allows TietoEnator to take over the development, operations and support of Ediel, an information system for players on the Swedish power market.

Svenska Kraftnat is responsible for the supply of electric power throughout Sweden and must therefore ensure that there is a fair balance between electrical power supply and demand within the national electricity system. This requires an effective exchange of information with all the players on the market.

Swedish power companies can, through the Ediel system, exchange information, for example prognoses, agreements regarding production levels or the purchasing of different production alternatives. Communication is based on a common standard, EDI (Electronic Document Interchange). The optimised development, operations and support of Ediel will provide more effective operations with a higher level of quality. This also means that Ediel users will get quicker access to new services and functionalities.

"This agreement is further proof of TietoEnators strength within Information and Messaging. The confidence that Svenska Kraftnat has in us strengthens our position as the leading provider of solutions for Enterprise Application Integration on the Swedish market," said Mats Wikstrom, MD, TietoEnator Network Business.
