Northrop Grumman Wins Prime Contractor Role on DISA's Next Generation Engineering Contract

HERNDON, Va., June 17, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- A team led by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will provide total engineering and interoperability support services to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) worldwide, the Department of Defense and federal agencies under DISA's Next Generation Engineering (NexGen) contract.

The Northrop Grumman team is one of seven teams selected by DISA for a prime award in the seven-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, which has an overall ceiling of $1 billion. As one of the prime contractors, Northrop Grumman estimates that the NexGen program has a potential value of more than $110 million to its Information Technology sector. The actual contract value will be determined by the number of task orders received during the lifetime of the contract.

"The DISA NexGen award is a cornerstone win for Northrop Grumman Information Technology," said Barry Rhine, president, Defense Mission Systems, Northrop Grumman IT. "It affirms our position as one of the Defense Department's established leaders in engineering and interoperability of military command, control, communications and information (C3I) systems. It also continues our role as a longstanding, trusted partner of DISA as the agency addresses the defense challenges of the 21st century."

Some of the specific services Northrop Grumman IT will provide DISA under the NexGen contract include general systems engineering, information systems engineering, network engineering, security engineering, and IT standards development and management. The company has extensive experience with DISA in each of these areas due to its role as a prime contractor on the precursor Joint Interoperability and Engineering Organization Systems Engineering contract.

As a combat support agency, DISA plans, develops, fields, operates and supports C3I systems that serve the needs of the president, the secretary of defense, the joint chiefs of staff, the military services, the combatant commanders and other Defense Department components under all conditions of peace and war.
