China’s Ministry of Information Industry certifies the Nokia D500 multiservice access platform for use in the national telecommunications network

At Ele Expo, Shanghai, China, Nokia is demonstrating the Nokia D500 multiservice access platform, which recently became the first international next-generation broadband access node to receive official certification from China’s Ministry of Information Industry for use in the national telecommunications network. The Nokia D500 successfully passed a thorough examination and testing by the ministry to achieve the certification.

“We are very pleased to receive official certification for this flagship product as China is one of the fastest growing broadband access markets in the world today. Nokia has continually emphasized the importance of the China market, and that importance will continue to grow in terms of evolution to All-IP based networks,” comments Mark Slater, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Nokia Broadband Systems.

Nokia will be demonstrating the two core products of its broadband solution offerings, namely the Nokia D500 multiservice access platform and the Nokia ASR 2020 intelligent edge router. The Nokia D500 provides operators with a high-capacity, high density platform that enables them to deliver today’s ATM-based services cost efficiently, while allowing them to begin the evolution to All-IP based architectures when necessary. The Nokia D500 can operate in an ATM network, a hybrid ATM/IP network or in an All-IP network.
