Brødrene Hartmann A/S appoints a new General Manager in South America


As from 5 August 2002 Brødrene Hartmann A/S has appointed Fernando Silveira Filho, 47 years, as new President with responsibility for the Group's activities in South America, based at the factory in Sorocaba, Brazil. The new President will together with the Group's South American Finance Director through many years, Jørn Kristiansen, constitute the daily management.
 
Fernando Silveira Filho has an MBA degree from Sao Paulo, Brazil and was for the last 5 years director of the Brazilian subsidiary, Mead Embalagens Ltda. of the American packaging group MeadWestvaco Co. with the overall responsibility for the group's activities in Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia. For a period of 10 years prior to that he was employed with the American aluminum group, Alcoa, last in a position as area director for the group's packaging activities in South America.
 
The objective of the appointment of Fernando Silveira Filho is a strengthening of the Hartmann Group's activities in South America. For a long period earnings have not been satisfactory and have especially during the last year been under very strong pressure.
 
Fernando Silveira Filho will replace the previous area director Per E.L. Olsen who will step down simultaneously. Per E.L. Olsen has been Director of the Brødrene Hartmann A/S' activities in South America since the Group took over the Brazilian company in 1997.
