STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sapa Profiler AB has been awarded a large order for manufactured aluminium profiles from the furniture giant Ikea. The order has an estimated value of MSEK 40-50, and is a continuation of a long-term cooperation between Ikea and Sapa.
Ikea's focus on compact living and flexible furnishing and fixtures is well reflected in the new system "Stolmen." Extruded aluminium profiles are manufactured, anodised and assembled into telescopic pipes, two meters in length. The telescopic pipes will make up the framework for flexible room interiors, closets and shelves.
Stolmen will be manufactured, assembled, packed, and labelled in Sapa's production plant in Vetlanda, Sweden. Sapa is already delivering ready end-customer packages to Ikea stocks outside Sweden. Aluminium profiles are for instance produced for Ikea's kitchen door Avsikt and glass doors for the bookshelf Billy.
"When we sell to Ikea, we not only compete with Scandinavian producers, but with profiles producers world-wide," said Sapa Profiler's sales director Jan-Evert Johansson. "We are competitive by taking part in our customer's product development and in our ability to provide cost- effective and clever production concepts and logistic solutions."
