GLUON: 5-Star Award Winning QC 5 System for Quality Maintenance, Preflight and Collection is Offered Free of Charge

MAPLEWOOD, N.J., Jan. 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) --

QuarkXPress(tm) Users can Avoid Preflight Jitters by Eliminating
a Myriad of Costly Problems Before They Happen (or After)
                         at No Cost to Them

Software developer GLUON announces the free and unlimited availability of its award-winning QC 5 System. GLUON's QC 5, which stands for Quality Control, offers QuarkXPress(tm) users a robust, comprehensive and automated package to catch and eliminate document errors and inconsistencies. This free offer also includes QC Collect and QC Bureau. The combination represents an outstanding opportunity to add powerful business capability within minutes of installation. QC is in use around the world and has earned a 5-star rating from PUBLISH magazine.

GLUON president Peter McClard explains the decision to give away QC: "Over the years QC has been a top seller for GLUON and is a powerful, proven and reliable workhorse for Quark users. Our decision to give it away is by no means a signal of product retirement. We have exciting developments in 2003-2004 for our QC product line, and while we deliver on that, we want to remove the potential cost barrier for many businesses trying to return to profitability. QC will be free in 2003!"

When QC 5 completes its lightening-fast checking and analysis, QC 5 generates an interactive list of problems in an action-oriented palette. Clicking on any given problem item in the list instantly takes the user to its location and highlights it. The Auto-fix feature enables one-click problem fixing for many common problems. QC can also run auto-triggered checks upon certain actions such as importing pictures.

Also, by including QC Collect and the QC Bureau Utility, GLUON delivers a powerful package that offers a quality revolution for production and printers. Once the document has been checked and perfected by the QC 5 user, QC Collect can gather all the elements needed to release the job. QC Collect can perform an exhaustive preflight utilizing the QC engine.

New to version 5 is QC Collect's ability to stuff the collected package into an archive and even FTP it directly to a service bureau or printer. QC Collect can collect assets for open documents in Quark or, by using the desktop QC Collection Bin, several jobs can be collected at once with drag-and-drop. Because of this capability QC Collect 5 has an added Merge Collect feature, unique to QC. If the user collects several jobs that are to be released together or related, the image folders and the font folders can be merged so that items which are common to all the jobs are collected only once, greatly cutting down on redundancy. Any number of jobs can be dragged-and-dropped into the QC Collection Bin for later collection. QC Collect can batch process all the files in the QC Collection Bin without user intervention.

Add to this the innovative QC Bureau Utility and the package is complete. Service providers need only drag Quark documents over the utility and with no need to open QuarkXPress. QC Bureau will verify which QC checks were last performed and give it the thumbs up or down.
