The Vamp -- A romantic novel laced with the painful truths in life

COOPER, Texas, January 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- What happens when two wounded hearts collide? A consummate love story brimming with sexual allusions, stinging episodes and a plethora of passionate exchange, Clarica Burns' "Wicked Vows" (now available through 1stBooks Library) exhibits how real love and honest affections change everything. From a life of loneliness, indifference and extreme independence, one moves on to a reality of sharing, commitment, tenderness and friendship.

Moya lives in a world where she has absolute control of herself and her whole existence. She goes her way and does things exactly the way she wants them to be done. A woman with confidence and sexual allure, she knows that she has power over men. Then Moya meets Ron Douglas, a simple young man from Texas. All Ron wants is to be like his brothers, who are all married and have families. However, being "burnt out" at an early age deters him from following in their footsteps. Ron's meeting with Moya is unplanned and not a welcome encounter. However, he later discovers that she's all that he wants. Though she is not the type that men would generally want to bring home to meet the family, he wants everything she offers. He desperately wants to believe everything she says, but at the back of his mind, he has doubts. Can he trust her? Can he believe in her?

A quixotic novel laced with the painful truths in life, "Wicked Vows" is distinctively for the incurable romantics. Though full of vanity and romance, this love story is so fast-paced and quick-witted that even when readers have tears in their eyes, they can't help but give out chuckles or laugh at the same time

Clarica Burns has been writing most of her life, starting in high school, where she and some friends formed a writers group. Marriage came after high school and from then on, she spent the next ten years following her military husband around to the various Army bases where he was stationed. Writing was put on the back burner. After raising four children, she and her husband settled in a small community in Texas, where she now spends most of her time writing, reading and watching her thirteen grandchildren grow to adulthood.
