This Night Belongs To You -- New book offers present-day parable for young women

CHICAGO, January 31, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- This Night Belongs To You by Shelagh Jackson (now available through 1stBooks Library) is an enlightening, humorous story about a young girl's coming of age.

This timely and suspense-filled drama deals with the tumultuous middle-class lifestyle of the broken-hearted 17-year-old Stacey Petersen. Stacey and her group of insecure, fashion-conscious, hormonally imbalanced and misguided teenage counterparts attempt to tackle adult issues of sex, betrayal and loyalty through child-like eyes.

While Stacey deals with death and the absence of a father figure, she meets and falls in love with the mysterious and seductive Roger Jones. But trouble starts when her sexually promiscuous best friend, Rachel Meredith, puts her stamp of approval across Roger's tempting 21-year-old body.

Caught up in the cold midst of Stacey's and Rachel's feline battle is their other best friend, Donna Lewis, who is dealing with her own incestuous drama. Stuck in the confusing abyss that lies between childhood and adulthood, Stacey and friends will find themselves facing many of life's ugly truths when they discover 'all that glitters isn't gold.'
