The Winter Soldiers is the story of Carlos and Robert, college friends who enlist as soldiers for different reasons. Carlos feels a sense of duty to his country and a desire to go into battle. Robert enters the army for Carlos. They train and serve together, until Robert goes to Korea with his infantry division, while Carlos remains at Fort Leonard Wood to train enlisted soldiers. Galindo's plot to focuses on each character's drama and both stories are poignant and unsettling.
Galindo's experience as a soldier provides him with the details that immerse the reader in the reality of being a soldier.
