Lost in Redskirt Forest -- Satirical fantasy adventure full of mystery and magic

WILMINGTON, Del., February 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lost in Redskirt Forest (now available through 1stBooks Library) by Neil Grobman captures a magnificent, magical world. Grobman, who has an extensive background in international and American folklore, combines a well-balanced mix of adventure, mystery and fantasy.

Set in the 21st century, Lost in Redskirt Forest introduces the Wolfe family, who live in the small fictional town of Redskirt, Neb. Unknown to the Wolfes and other residents, this rural town is also the home of an evil troll, a horrible giant, a dreadful witch, and a big bad wolf, all living in enchanted Redskirt Forest, in a place called "Horigron," the Land of Horrible Grown-ups.

An unexpected twist drives these creatures from other dimensions to mingle with human beings. Don Wolfe, a naughty teenager who is caught shoplifting, encounters these wicked creatures when he attempts to escape punishment by hiding in the thick forest. Once there, Don enters into dangerous encounters with the unknown. He manages to steal five magical gifts that help him make a daring escape, until a bevy of characters with hypnotic powers ensnare him in a horror world called "Teridren," the Land of Terrible Children.

This satirical fantasy is a unique interactive experience filled with lessons about life, verbal folklore and a compelling strategy board game. It appeals to readers from eight to 80 and has a surprise ending about the harsh realities of our world.

Author Neil Grobman has taught English, writing, folklore and mathematics in secondary schools and at several universities. He has four college degrees including a bachelor of arts degree in English from Johns Hopkins University, a master of arts in English education from Stanford University, and both a master of arts and doctorate in folklore and folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked on postdoctoral research at the Winterthur Museum in the area of religious folk art, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. His impressive knowledge on these subjects sharpened the storyline and characters of Lost in Redskirt Forest. Grobman currently resides in Wilmington, Del.
