SOLNA, Sweden, Feb. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC (Stockholm:NCCa) has been commissioned by the Municipality of Eda to build the new Gunnarsby school in Charlottenberg, central western Sweden. The order is worth SEK 107 million.
Gunnarsby School will have premises for 480 junior, intermediary and senior grade pupils plus a sports facility.
The school building will be constructed on land that was previously used as a refuse-disposal tip. The foundations will require both blasting and piling operations, as well as the replacement of unusable materials. In addition, a large barn and an adjacent storage building on the site will be demolished.
"In accordance with the customer's wishes, we have selected materials that will have a minimal impact on the environment. This applies to the selection of adhesives, paints and screeding and flooring materials," said Anders Johansson, NCC's Department Manager for the Province of Varmland.
The project will be started in March 2003 and is scheduled for completion in June 2004. A total of approximately 85 employees will be engaged in the project.
