Nokia supplies expansion of Manquehue NET's broadband DSL service in Chile with Nokia D500 platform

Chilean operator, Manquehue NET is to expand its broadband DSL network with the Nokia D500 platform. This contract consolidates Manquehue NET's plan to deploy advanced broadband services to compliment its existing infrastructure.

The award winning Nokia D500 platform will allow Manquehue to implement the efficiencies of IP based networking technology and also offer VDSL services. The high-density, high-capacity D500 allows the cost efficient introduction of a wider range of revenue-generating services, such as multimedia on demand and streaming over DSL. Nokia will continue to deliver its proven 1st generation D50e DSLAM platform and will upgrade the Nokia NetAct(TM) for broadband management suite to handle both platforms.

"With this agreement we aim to ultimately benefit the consumer.  DSL lines allow the consumer the convenience of receiving more data, delivered in less time. Manquehue NET is committed to providing   the latest communication technology to all customers and we will continue to broaden the services we offer," says Jorge Troncoso, CEO, Manquehue NET.

"We are extremely pleased that Manquehue has decided to adopt the new generation Nokia D500 and join the growing ranks of operators deploying this future-proof platform", says Hector Saldana, Nokia Broadband Systems Sales Director for Latin America.

"With the deployment of this cutting-edge platform, we believe that Manquehue will be able to reduce costs and obsolescence risks, while at the same time opening up their network to a range of new service possibilities for their customers, now and into the future," he adds.

Manquehue NET was founded in 1980 and provides fixed telephony, public telephony, long distance, Internet and digital telephony RSDI.  Manquehue NET operates exclusively in Santiago.  The Chilean company, which offers services in the metropolitan region, is the first company in the country to have introduced ADSL broadband services.
