Blue Cross RiverRink Closes Its Ninth Season with Over 30,000 Plus Skaters Hitting the Ice this Season; Final Skating Day -- This Sunday!

 What:        A Philadelphia Tradition closes its ninth season. 
              With more than 30,000 skaters hitting the ice this
              season, the ninth season at the Blue Cross RiverRink
              will be remembered for the records: record low
              temperatures, record snowfalls, and record sums raised
              by the Variety Club's Tree of Love campaign. Highlights
              of the ninth season include:

               -- Partnership with the Variety Club for their Sled
                  Skating Program and their Tree of Love Campaign.
               -- Sold Out Party On Ice, where hundreds skated under
                  the stars and welcomed in the New Year with a
                  spectacular fireworks program over the Delaware
                  River.
               -- Free activities and special events including face
                  painting and crafts each weekend, along with
                  favorites traditions like Skate with Santa, Kids
                  Fest, and the Chocolate Festival. 

 Background:  Great programs like Good Skates and the Sled Skating
              Program are made possible by the title sponsor of the
              Blue Cross RiverRink, Independence Blue Cross. Other
              sponsors include Deer Park Water, PNC Bank, and T-
              Mobile. Plans are already underway for the ten-year
              anniversary season in 2003-2004.
