The Nokia 6220 connects your business in a whole new way

Nokia today launched the Nokia 6220, a classic phone and personal organizer designed for mobile professionals on the go. Featuring an integrated camera, the Nokia 6220 has a classic style with a wide complement of features, including EDGE connectivity, high-quality colour display, Java(TM) technology, presence-enhanced contacts and multimedia messaging (MMS)*. A tri-band (GSM/EDGE 900/1800/1900) mobile device, the Nokia 6220 is expected to start shipping in Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific regions in the third quarter of 2003.

Using the high speed packet-based EDGE connectivity of the Nokia 6220, business professionals can experience more powerful and faster browsing, messaging, and downloading. With a downlink data speed of up to 118.4 kbps, downloading with the Nokia 6220 via EDGE is more than twice as fast as GPRS. End-users can also enjoy increased efficiency for large data files, and richer and more compelling graphical content via WAP 2.0 with XHTML browser over TCP/IP**.

"The Nokia 6220 combines uncompromised performance with reliable, smart usability. Its impressive range of features provides mobile professionals with what it takes to stay connected while on the move. With an integrated camera, EDGE, presence-enhanced contacts, MMS and Chat, end-users can now manage both work and private life in a whole new way," said Kai Öistämö, Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones. "Whether you are capturing images, sharing your availability with your contacts, downloading content or just managing your daily schedules, the Nokia 6220 is an excellent device for faster and more efficient management of your mobile office."

With the presence-enhanced contacts, users of the Nokia 6220 can conveniently share their availability, intentions and whereabouts with colleagues, family, friends and other contacts. For example, a business professional can change his current phone profile to 'Meeting' and advise his colleagues to reach him by SMS or MMS. Exchanging instant text messages is another interesting possibility with the presence-enhanced Chat function, where users of the Nokia 6220 can create their own private chats and invite others to participate, or even join public chats of their interest.

The integrated camera in the Nokia 6220 is optimised for colour screens (128 X128 pixel display with 4096 colours) of smaller handsets. With imaging and MMS functionality, users can send, receive and forward multimedia messages with image, text and audio clip content to other compatible MMS-enabled phones. The Nokia 6220 also features a video player that allows receiving and playback of video content. The Nokia 6220 supports MMS size of up to 100kB.

For efficient work management while on the move, the Nokia 6220 has a powerful set of technology features to connect business professionals. JavaTM technology allows users to download personalized applications either using the WAP 2.0 with XHTML browser or from a PC via the Nokia PC Suite. The Nokia 6220 also has a mobile email client that lets users manage their email quickly over EDGE, GPRS and HSCSD networks. In addition, the notes application allows users to type notes of up to 3000 characters.

SyncML allows users of the Nokia 6220 to synchronize personal data remotely over the network. With SyncML, personal data such as calendars and contact information can be consistent, accessible and up-to-date. Local synchronization of personal data can also be done via the Nokia PC Suite. The PC Suite enables users to synchronize phone information with a compatible PC, install software, configure phone settings, and make back-ups of phone files.

The new advanced wallet application in the Nokia 6220 allows easy, reliable and convenient service access and mobile payment via WAP. The new wallet enables users to store a range of encrypted personal information such as usernames and passwords to different mobile services, payment card details, delivery addresses and personal notes, and easily access the stored data to fill in required fields.

Polyphonic ringtones and an integrated stereo FM radio offer a high-quality sound experience, together with an integrated handsfree speaker that makes it possible to conduct a conference call. The Nokia 6220 also supports the OMA Digital Rights Management version 1.0, and users can, for example, preview content before purchase.

The Nokia 6220 has a volume of 76 cc, weighs 92 grams and has a talk time of up to 2 - 4 hours and a standby time of up to 8 days. Available in dark grey in the standard sales package, the Nokia 6220 has a range of classic Xpress-on(TM) covers in light green, rose and silver colours.
