Read Body Language Like a Trial Lawyer -- New Book Focuses on Nonverbal Communication as a Window into the Mind

GREAT NECK, N.Y., March 13, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Fidgety feet and crossed arms, fleeting eyes and shifting weight are all forms of communication. It is the "unsaid" during a conversation or the meaning behind the words that conveys what someone is really thinking. Former judge Marc Mogil, J.D. has written an easy to understand guide to interpreting nonverbal communication, entitled I Know What You're Really Thinking: Reading Body Language Like a Trial Lawyer (now available through 1stBooks Library).

As a former New York State judge, special prosecutor, trial lawyer and currently, a jury selection consultant, Mogil builds his book on years of experience observing and interpreting body language. The book analyzes the relatively new science of nonverbal communication, which includes body language and privacy zones. Through simple explanations offered by Mogil, the book will help the common person be able to notice and pick up signs and signals.

The body emits nonverbal communication unconsciously during interaction and conversation. Mogil allows readers to identify and understand those signals of both deception and truth as he details the physiological gestures and signs people give off. Offering interpretations as to how one reads the signs, Mogil gives readers the ability to have the upper hand in any conversation, business meeting or social or romantic events.

Differing from other books written by psychiatrists in an academic style, I Know What You're Thinking is written simply as the author explains from his hands on experience. Mogil believes the body doesn't lie and when words and gestures conflict, always bet on the gestures for the truth. After Mogil's tips, people will be an open book.

Mogil was born and raised in New York City. He was educated there and at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. before practicing law in Florida and New York. After serving as special prosecutor for medical fraud control in New York City as a Special Assistant Attorney General, Mogil was elected a New York State judge, handling numerous criminal felony trials. He is currently president of Jury Selection Consultants, which nationally assists the trial bar in selecting juries in high profile cases. An extensive speaker, teacher and writer on jury psychology, Mogil is a pilot and concert pianist, which is his source of relaxation. He lives in Great Neck, N.Y. with his wife and family. I Know What You're Thinking is his first book.
