Who Wants To Be Politically Correct, Anyway? - Newly released book provides collection of poems with a moral reference

WHITNEY POINT, N.Y., March 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Author Clifford J. Vernon doesn't have to be politically correct. In fact, his new book is exactly the opposite. Sporting Christian themes and inspirational undertones, Grandfather's Politically Incorrect Poems for the Twenty First Century (now available through 1stBooks Library) is a delightful collection of 120 poetic works.

Many subjects are dealt with in Vernon's carefully crafted words, such as humanity, faith, family, tranquility and country. With more than eight decades of experience, the author covers a lifetime of emotions and thoughts. In his poem entitled "Thought," Vernon deals with the emotions common thought can bring to an individual: "Think of the place that thought comes from/ From God in heaven, or an ape that's dumb/ As a man thinks, so shall he be/ Blind as a bat or with eyes that see."

An intriguing read, Grandfather's Politically Incorrect Poems is a "collection of verse common to the interest of most people," Vernon says. In "Concepts," the author illustrates the importance of careful choice, something most everyone deals with on a daily basis: "Some are bad and some are good/ It is commonly understood/ Which are false and which are true?/ Care in choice will see you through."

Vernon is a current resident of Whitney Point, N.Y. He began writing poetry 15 years ago. He is now retired after a four decade long career as either an electric lineman or an electrician. The author describes his life as blessed. He was married to a "darling lady" for 56 years and the couple had four children.

Grandfather's Politically Incorrect Poems is an inspirational read by a devout Christian.
