Hispanic Magazine Names Northrop Grumman's Philip A. Dur One of America's 50 Most Powerful Hispanic Executives


PASCAGOULA, Miss., April 9, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Philip A. Dur, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector, has been selected as one of America's 50 most important Hispanic executives in technology and business by Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine.

Dur was chosen based on his progressive leadership responsibilities, achievements in helping to advance access to technology, demonstrated effectiveness in engaging technology within the global market economy and on his contributions to furthering technical literacy within the Hispanic community.

A former rear admiral of the U.S. Navy, Dur has been Ship Systems president since October 2001. He was previously vice president-Program Operations at the company's Electronic Systems sector. He has held posts including Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations; Director, Navy Strategy Division; Commander, Battle Force United States Sixth Fleet; Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group Eight; United States Defense Attache accredited to the Government of France; Commanding Officer, USS Yorktown; and director, Political Military Affairs on the staff of the National Security Council. In addition, Dur is the recipient of numerous awards and decorations, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.

Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems sector includes primary operations in Pascagoula and Gulfport, Miss.; New Orleans and Tallulah, La.; as well as a network of fleet support offices in the U.S. and Japan. The sector, which currently employs more than 18,000 shipbuilding professionals, primarily in Mississippi and Louisiana, is one of the nation's leading full service systems companies for the design, engineering, construction, and life cycle support of major surface ships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and international navies, and for commercial vessels of all types.
