Jaakko Pöyry Infra strengthens its know-how in soil and bedrock studies


 
Jaakko Pöyry Group Oyj has acquired Fintact Oy, Finland, which specialises in soil, bedrock and groundwater studies. The acquired company will be part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group. In 2002 Fintact Oy's net sales amounted to EUR 850 000 and it currently employs 11 experts in Helsinki, Finland.
 
Fintact Oy is a leading Nordic project management and specialist service provider in the areas of geology, geohydrology, geophysics and modelling. The company offers high-quality specialist services for demanding projects requiring geoscientific and environmental expertise. Its total service concept ranges from project identification and planning - including geovisualisation - to follow-up studies and maintenance of databases.
 
Fintact's major customers include Posiva Oy, Finland, and nuclear waste organisations outside Finland, as well as utilities, design engineering companies, mining companies and the dimension stone industry. For example, Fintact has participated in site characterisation for the final disposal of fuel from the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Eurajoki, Finland.
 
The acquisition of Fintact strengthens Jaakko Pöyry Infra's know-how in bedrock and groundwater studies, and in modelling.
 
The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group uses the brand name Jaakko Pöyry Infra. Its net sales for 2002 were EUR 123 million. The business group has offices in 12 countries and it employs 1350 experts worldwide.
