Nokia and Micromuse announce Netcool® Ready(TM) Solution for the Nokia Broadband Media Solution

SUPERCOMM, Atlanta, Georgia, June 3, 2003 - Nokia Broadband Systems, a member of the Micromuse Alliance(TM) program since 2001, will today show how its latest version of Nokia NetAct for Broadband has been certified as a Netcool® Ready(TM) solution.  The Nokia NetAct for Broadband Integration Module for Micromuse's Netcool/OMNIbus(TM) provides real-time service quality management for the Nokia Broadband Media Solution.

The integration between Nokia NetAct for Broadband and the Micromuse Netcool solution allows broadband access network operators to rapidly isolate faults in the physical plant, prioritize service outages and assess the business impact of such service outages in a single dashboard.

"We are pleased to continue working with Nokia to provide our mutual customers with rapidly deployable service assurance solutions for the effective management of broadband networks and DSL services," said Darin Layman, Vice President, Micromuse Alliances & Solutions Marketing. "Micromuse and Nokia are committed to delivering product integration that helps broadband customers control their costs and streamline OSS functions as they continue to offer new services and strive for operational excellence."

The cooperation between vendors provides service providers with an off-the-shelf, pre-integrated service quality management solution that is second to none. The combined solution allows service providers to more effectively minimize customer churn while helping to drive down OPEX and CAPEX.

"In these economically challenging times, it is vitally important that leading companies work together to bring solutions to market that are targeted towards helping reduce operating and capital expenditures. Micromuse and Nokia, working with other companies such as Syndesis, are creating powerful OSS solutions that improve the broadband operator business case in the short and long term, " said Jean-Francois Chapuis, Director of OSS Product Management, Broadband Systems, Nokia Networks.

Nokia will also show today that its Nokia NetAct for Broadband has been integrated with Syndesis NetProvision to provide a highly scalable, automated provisioning and reconciliation solution that can activate thousands of DSL subscribers rapidly and error-free.

Nokia NetAct for Broadband provides broadband access network operators with a carrier-class management system that meets their scalability, reliability, performance and ease of use requirements.  A complete, integrated element management system, Nokia NetAct for Broadband features topology, fault, inventory, configuration, performance and security management as well as cut-through command line interfaces for the Nokia D500 and D500 RAM.  Its standards-based XML and CORBA northbound interfaces allow for fast integration with existing operations support systems.
